The Lakeside Trail project has been in the works since 1998. When complete, the trail will link the existing bike paths on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe and the along the Truckee River through Tahoe City to the existing path along the North Shore. AEC has worked in collaboration with the many regulatory and environmental protection agencies at Lake Tahoe on the wide variety of complex issues facing a project of this magnitude. Some of those issues include: stream environment zones, fish habitat zones, the 100-year floodplain, water quality issues, limited coverage allowances, and visual resources. AEC was able to work closely with these various regulatory agencies to not only comply with permitting regulations but create the necessary project design and mitigation to obtain permits.
