Commons Beach serves as the main access point to Lake Tahoe from Tahoe City. Auerbach Engineering Corporation was brought in to help provide regulatory processing support which required close coordination with TRPA, Lahontan Regional Water Quality Control Board, and Placer County. Portions of this project were proposed in sensitive areas and AEC worked closely with the agencies to achieve appropriate project design and mitigation. This included extensive revegetation and restoration to the steep slopes of Commons Beach as well as a dynamic revetment along the shore of Lake Tahoe to decrease shorezone erosion. AEC performed land coverage and land capability calculations for this project and identified areas in need of restoration.
