We are seeking a Director of Engineering to grow with our team and to help us maintain the highest quality of professional services to the mountain communities of the Sierra Nevada.
AEC is a small firm located in Tahoe City, California. Since 1998, our staff size has averaged about 14 people. Our client base is primarily local, but we occasionally have projects out of the area. We provide services to a number of special districts and public agencies in the region, as well as to individual homeowners and developers. We are uniquely positioned to provide our clients with knowledgeable and professional design and consulting services in a small community environment. We love living in the mountains. The Director of Engineering is registered as a Civil Engineer in California or Nevada, and should have ten years of project management experience and great depth of design experience in public works. The ideal candidate has focused experience in water and wastewater infrastructure planning and design, including master plans, hydraulic modeling, asset management plans; water supply and treatment; wastewater management; and integration of GIS throughout the planning and design process. Familiarity with local, state and federal storm water regulations is necessary, as is a broad background in other areas of the profession such as roadways, paving and access design; site grading and drainage; utility systems; trails, parks and recreation areas.
The ideal candidate has the ability to manage design and production staff from initial concepts through design, approvals and construction. Typical job functions will include oversight of design and production; management of project budgets and schedules; management and coordination of sub-consultants; and oversight of the project approval and regulatory permitting processes. This individual has the ability to communicate effectively through written and verbal reports, and has an understanding of the business of consulting engineering. This is a senior level position with opportunities for equity participation.
